Volkswagen has officially unveiled the Tayron for the Indian market, making it the first of five new models the brand plans to introduce locally. Revealed late last month, the three-row SUV is expected to be positioned as a premium offering, with prices likely to be announced in the coming weeks.
The Volkswagen Tayron will be sold in a single, fully loaded variant, simplifying the line-up for buyers. Instead of multiple trims, Volkswagen appears to be focusing on offering a comprehensive feature set as standard, aimed at customers looking for a well-equipped family SUV.
In terms of exterior choices, the Tayron will be available in seven colour options at launch. These include Ultra Violet Metallic, Grenadilla Black Metallic, Oryx Mother of Pearl Effect, Dolphin Grey Metallic, Oyster Silver Metallic, Cipressino Green Metallic, and Nightshade Blue Metallic. The selection covers a mix of neutral shades and slightly more distinctive colours, giving buyers enough variety without going overboard.

Under the bonnet, the 2026 Volkswagen Tayron R-Line will be powered by a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine. This motor is paired with a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox and delivers 201bhp and 320Nm of torque. An all-wheel-drive system is also offered, which should improve grip and stability, especially on rough or slippery roads.
Feature-wise, the Tayron comes loaded. Key highlights include all-LED lighting, 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, and a large 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The SUV also gets three-zone climate control, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS for added safety. Comfort-focused features include a panoramic sunroof and front seats with ventilation, memory, and massage functions.
With its strong engine, long equipment list, and seven colour choices, the Volkswagen Tayron is shaping up to be an important new product for the brand in India.
