Hyundai has been spotted testing the Verna facelift, signalling that a mid-cycle update for the popular midsize sedan is on the way. The camouflaged test car was seen overseas, with coverings on both the front and rear sections, clearly pointing to visible styling changes rather than minor tweaks. While Hyundai has not officially confirmed a launch timeline, the sighting suggests development is progressing steadily.
At the front, the Hyundai Verna facelift is expected to get a refreshed design with a reworked grille and sharper bumper lines. The current split headlamp setup is likely to be retained, but the lighting elements themselves could feature a new signature to give the sedan a fresher identity. The bonnet also appears slightly revised, helping the front end look cleaner and more cohesive compared to the outgoing model.
The rear section is also set to receive updates. Spy images indicate changes to the tail-lamp internals along with a redesigned rear bumper. These revisions should modernise the Verna’s appearance while keeping its familiar overall silhouette intact. Hyundai may also introduce new alloy wheel designs, which is a common update during facelifts and helps visually separate the new version from the existing car.
Inside the cabin, major layout changes are unlikely. The current Verna already offers a modern dual-screen dashboard, and this setup is expected to continue. However, the facelift could bring additional features, updated trim options and minor revisions to the variant-wise equipment list. Hyundai typically uses facelifts to add more value through convenience and safety features, so buyers can expect small but meaningful upgrades.
Under the hood, engine options are expected to remain unchanged. The Verna facelift will likely continue with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, offered with both manual and automatic transmission choices. No mechanical updates or electrified options are anticipated at this stage.
In the Indian market, the Hyundai Verna sedan competes with the Skoda Slavia, Honda City and Volkswagen Virtus. With rivals receiving regular updates, this facelift should help Hyundai keep the Verna competitive in the midsize sedan segment. Once launched, the updated Verna is expected to strengthen Hyundai’s position by offering refreshed styling, familiar performance and improved features without altering its core appeal.
