Kia Syros EV India Launch Expected in August 2026

Kia is preparing to expand its electric vehicle lineup in India with the launch of the upcoming Kia Syros EV, which is expected to arrive in August this year. The new electric SUV will become Kia’s most affordable EV in the Indian market and is likely to compete directly with the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV.

The Syros EV has already been spotted testing on Indian roads several times, giving us a fair idea of what to expect from the upcoming model. While the test cars were heavily covered, the overall shape and design looked quite similar to the regular ICE-powered Syros. Kia is expected to retain the boxy styling, tallboy stance, and practical design that the standard Syros is known for.

However, the EV version is likely to get some unique styling updates to separate it from the petrol and diesel models. Spy images suggest the charging port will be placed on the front fender, while revised bumpers and new alloy wheel designs may also be introduced. Similar to other electric SUVs in the segment, Kia may keep the overall styling changes minimal while focusing more on EV-specific elements.

Inside the cabin, the layout is expected to remain mostly unchanged from the standard model. The dashboard design and feature list could be carried forward, although the Syros EV may receive additional electric vehicle features such as vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) technology. Kia could also introduce EV-specific graphics for the instrument cluster and infotainment system along with different interior trims and upholstery options.

The upcoming Kia electric SUV will continue to use the K1 platform, which already underpins the ICE version of the Syros. Internationally, this platform also supports the Inster EV, which comes with 42kWh and 49kWh battery packs. The India-spec Syros EV is expected to use similar battery options and will likely feature a front-wheel-drive setup.

Initially expected to launch in early 2026, the Kia Syros EV launch timeline has now been advanced to August this year. The SUV is expected to be priced between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom), making it an important product in the growing affordable electric SUV segment in India.
