Skoda has confirmed that the upcoming Epiq compact EV will play a key role in its plan to expand its electric vehicle portfolio by 2026. The company aims to double its all-electric range over the next two years, marking a clear shift towards offering EVs across more segments and price points.
Instead of focusing mainly on premium electric models, Skoda is now turning its attention to high-volume categories. One such space is the compact urban crossover segment, which continues to see steady demand across Europe. The Epiq is expected to fit right into this growing market.
Positioned as Skoda’s smallest and most affordable battery electric vehicle, the Epiq will act as the entry point into the brand’s EV lineup. It will sit below the Enyaq and the recently introduced Elroq. At the other end of the range, Skoda is also working on a larger seven-seat electric SUV, likely to be called the Peaq, which will cater to buyers looking for more space and features.
With tightening emission norms and increasing regulatory pressure across Europe, carmakers are accelerating their shift towards electrification. For Skoda, this means building a more balanced EV portfolio rather than relying on a few flagship models. By expanding into the compact SUV segment, the brand is entering a space that has traditionally been dominated by petrol and diesel vehicles.
If priced competitively, the Epiq could help Skoda attract a wider audience and strengthen its presence in the mainstream EV market. More details about specifications and launch timelines are expected in the coming months.
