Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that the all-new CLA EV will make its India debut in April 2026. The electric sedan is one of the most awaited Mercedes models for the Indian market, especially since the earlier petrol-powered CLA was discontinued back in 2020. With this launch, the CLA EV will take on an important role, effectively replacing the A-Class sedan along with the EQA and EQB electric SUVs in India.
Globally, the Mercedes-Benz CLA EV is offered with an 85kWh battery pack, and the same is expected for India. Internationally, it is sold in two versions – CLA 250+ and CLA 350. The CLA 250+ comes with a rear-mounted motor producing 268hp and 335Nm of torque, offering a claimed WLTP range of up to 792km. The more powerful CLA 350 gets a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup with 349hp and 515Nm. For India, Mercedes-Benz is likely to introduce only the rear-wheel-drive CLA 250+ as it will sit at the entry point of the brand’s EV line-up.
In terms of design, the CLA EV has a clean and modern look. It features a gloss-black blanked-off grille with illuminated Mercedes star elements, slim LED headlights connected by a light strip, and a similar LED treatment at the rear. The side profile looks aerodynamic with flush door handles and alloy wheels ranging from 17 to 19 inches.
Inside, the CLA EV offers a tech-focused cabin. It gets a dual-screen layout as standard, consisting of a 10.25-inch digital driver display and a 14-inch touchscreen. Features like powered front seats, a panoramic glass roof, ambient lighting and Level 2 ADAS are expected for India as well.
The Mercedes-Benz CLA EV is expected to be priced around Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom) and will rival electric models such as the Tesla Model Y and Kia EV6.
