Toyota just pulled the covers off the all-new, ninth-generation Hilux. After nearly ten years, this iconic pickup finally gets a major overhaul – inside and out. There’s a completely redesigned cabin, and for the first time, you can get it as an electric. That’s a big move for a truck with such a rugged reputation.
The real headline here is the Toyota Hilux BEV. This electric version runs on a 59.2kWh lithium-ion battery and uses a dual-motor setup that cranks out 474Nm of torque. You get about 240km of range (according to WLTP), a payload of 715kg, and it’ll tow up to 1,600kg. So whether you’re hauling gear for work or loading it up for a weekend away, it’s got the muscle to handle both.
Design-wise, the 2025 Hilux borrows a lot from Toyota’s bigger trucks, the Tacoma and Tundra. Up front, the bold grille wears a big “TOYOTA” badge, and the headlights are slimmer LEDs. Out back, the tailgate looks cleaner and carries integrated branding. Toyota’s also trimmed the lineup – now, every Hilux comes as a double cab. No more single or extra-cab versions.
Step inside, and the Hilux feels a lot more upscale and loaded with tech. It takes cues from the Land Cruiser, with twin 12.3-inch screens, wireless charging, USB-C ports, and support for over-the-air updates. Every model comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense, which means you get things like blind spot monitoring, Safe Exit Assist, and an Emergency Driving Stop System.
With choices between electric, petrol, and diesel, the 2025 Hilux covers all the bases. It keeps that tough, go-anywhere attitude, but now it’s ready for a new generation – one that’s just as comfortable off-road as it is in a world that’s going electric.
