Electrifying, Yet Affordable!
Hyundai has officially confirmed plans to introduce an all-new Compact SUV EV designed specifically for the Indian market. The upcoming model will sit below the Creta Electric in the brand’s lineup and will feature high localisation levels to keep prices competitive while focusing on sustainability. Here’s everything we know so far.
Exterior: Compact Yet Premium
While design details remain under wraps, Hyundai’s new Compact SUV EV is expected to borrow cues from the Hyundai Inster EV, suggesting a modern, compact footprint and a sleek, urban-friendly design. However, Hyundai is likely to adapt the styling for Indian preferences, opting for a cleaner, more practical look.
Another possible direction could be a Venue-based EV, especially considering that the 2025 Hyundai Venue is nearing its launch and has recently been spied with several confirmed feature upgrades.
Interior & Features: Premium and Feature-Loaded
Inside, expect the typical Hyundai treatment — premium materials, upmarket design, and possibly recycled or eco-friendly components aligning with the company’s sustainability goals.
In terms of equipment, the Compact SUV EV is set to impress. Confirmed features include a Level 2 ADAS suite and Over-The-Air (OTA) updates for the infotainment system. It could also offer a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, wireless charger, ambient lighting, and a fully digital instrument cluster — features that would make it one of the most tech-loaded EVs in its class.
Powertrain: Efficient and Practical
Hyundai is expected to offer the Compact SUV EV with two battery pack options — Standard Range and Long Range — catering to both city commuters and long-distance drivers.
- Range (estimated): 300–350 km (depending on battery size)
- Power output: 100–120 PS (expected)
These numbers promise a strong balance between performance and affordability, ensuring brisk acceleration and low running costs.
Price & Launch Timeline
Hyundai could price this upcoming EV from under ₹10 lakh, with top variants going up to ₹18 lakh (ex-showroom) — making it one of the most accessible electric SUVs in India.
While an exact launch date hasn’t been announced, we expect it to arrive by late 2026 or early 2027.
Expected Rivals
The new Hyundai Compact SUV EV will compete with:
- Tata Nexon EV
- Upcoming Kia Syros EV
With few affordable, city-friendly EVs currently on sale, Hyundai’s upcoming Compact SUV EV could be a game-changer for the mass market. If Hyundai nails the balance between price, range, and practicality, it might just spark a new wave of EV adoption across Indian cities.
