Fuel Prices Revised Across India; Petrol and Diesel Costlier by up to Rs. 3

Fuel prices across India have been revised once again, with petrol and diesel becoming more expensive by up to Rs. 3 per litre. The new prices came into effect on 15 May, 2026, and apply across major metro cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Chennai. Along with conventional fuels, CNG prices have also gone up by as much as Rs. 2 per kg in select cities.

The latest increase comes at a time when global crude oil prices continue to remain under pressure. Reports suggest that oil marketing companies have been facing significant losses due to rising international fuel costs and tighter energy supplies. The ongoing conflict in West Asia is also said to have impacted global oil availability, leading to higher import costs for India.

Among the four metro cities, Mumbai continues to record one of the highest petrol prices at Rs. 106.68 per litre, up from Rs. 103.54. Kolkata follows with petrol now priced at Rs. 108.74 per litre compared to the earlier Rs. 105.45. In Delhi, petrol has increased from Rs. 94.77 to Rs. 97.77 per litre, while Chennai now sees petrol retailing at Rs. 103.67 per litre.

The latest fuel price revision is expected to impact daily commuting costs as well as transportation expenses across sectors. Higher fuel prices often lead to increased logistics costs, which can eventually influence prices of goods and services in the market.

While there has been no official indication about future revisions, fuel prices are likely to remain sensitive to global crude oil trends and geopolitical developments over the coming months.
