Auto Expo 2025: Yamaha Unveils FZ-X with Hybrid Powertrain

Yamaha FZ-X to Debut with Hybrid Powertrain at Auto Expo 2025

The Yamaha FZ-X is set to make history as the first 150cc commuter motorcycle in India to feature hybrid technology. Following the introduction of hybrid systems in Yamaha’s Fascino and Ray ZR scooters, the FZ-X will showcase this innovative powertrain at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. Alongside the FZ-S, this updated FZ-X is expected to debut with enhanced features and a possible price hike.

Hybrid Technology and New Features

The upgraded FZ-X will incorporate an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) to provide a small electric boost, enhancing its overall performance. This addition will also enable the bike’s start/stop functionality and allow for a silent start. Currently, the FZ-X’s 149cc, air-cooled engine delivers 12.4hp and 13.3Nm of torque. With the new hybrid system, these figures might experience a slight increase.

The new model will also feature a colour TFT display that provides call and notification alerts, along with controls for music playback. The display will be operated via new switchgear, and this feature is likely to be reserved for the top DLX variant, much like the one found on the latest Yamaha R15 models.

The FZ-X’s debut with hybrid power at Auto Expo 2025 will undoubtedly stir excitement in the commuter motorcycle segment, bringing both innovation and advanced features to the forefront.
