Maruti Cars to Get Costlier in April – Third Price Hike of 2025

Maruti Suzuki Announces Third Price Hike of 2025 – Cars to Get Costlier in April

Despite the upcoming price hike in April, Maruti Suzuki is currently offering attractive discounts across its Nexa and Arena models. This will mark the third price increase for Maruti in 2025, following earlier hikes in January and February. With India’s largest carmaker raising prices, other OEMs may follow suit with similar increases.

Up to 4% Price Increase Across Maruti Models

According to Maruti Suzuki’s regulatory filing with NSE and BSE, car prices will rise by up to 4%, with the exact increase depending on the model. The company cites rising input costs and operational expenses as key factors behind the hike.

While Maruti strives to minimize costs and reduce the impact on consumers, sustained inflation, rising raw material prices, and supply chain challenges have forced the company to pass some of these costs onto customers.

Reasons Behind the Price Hike

Maruti’s recent price hikes align with broader trends in the Indian automotive industry, which continues to face supply-side challenges. The primary reasons for the increase include:

  • Soaring raw material costs, especially for steel, aluminum, and electronic components.
  • Higher inflationary trends, impacting production expenses.
  • Increased energy bills and logistics costs.

The January 2025 price hike had already increased prices by up to 4%, followed by another increase in February, ranging from ₹1,500 to ₹32,500.

Minimal Impact on Maruti’s Sales Performance

Despite multiple price hikes, Maruti Suzuki’s sales remain strong, with no major impact on demand. Other carmakers have also raised prices in 2025 and may announce further hikes later this year.

In February 2025, Maruti registered a 0.32% YoY growth, selling 1,60,791 units, maintaining its market share at 42.24%. The brand continues to dominate key segments, including hatchbacks, SUVs, and entry-level MPVs and vans.

Maruti’s Future Focus: EV Expansion

Looking ahead, Maruti Suzuki plans to accelerate its EV strategy, leveraging its manufacturing capabilities and extensive sales network.

  • The Maruti eVitara has already been introduced.
  • By 2030, Maruti aims to launch three more EVs, targeting both domestic and international markets.
  • Possible electric models include EV versions of the Fronx and Ertiga.
  • A mid-size electric SUV could also be in the pipeline, set to compete with Mahindra XEV 9e and Tata Harrier EV.

With continued market leadership, expanding EV plans, and strategic pricing adjustments, Maruti Suzuki remains well-positioned in India’s evolving automotive landscape.
